Defensive Driving and Drunkeness

The Law Firm of Lawyers Parks & Braxton
To better inform the public and our clients, the Florida DUI attorneys of Park's and Braxton provide this information page about defensive driving and drunkeness. Many would wonder, what do laws regarding driving under the influence have to do with defensive driving and how does drunkeness impact this? Several things. First, if the habits of defensive driving are strong in someone, they are more likely to avoid possible accidents even when driving under the influence. This does not mean that a drunk person should drive just because they normally drive safely, it just means that it is one thing someone should do regardless to reduce the risk of injury to themselves or others. Second, being drunk reduces inhibitions. Someone with lowered inhibitions is more likely to be belligerent, become susceptable to road rage, and may be less likely to act defensively while driving. In other words, there is a possibility in some drivers that being under the influence may cause them to act in dangerous ways while driving. Again, someone that is more easy going by nature and less includined towards road rage would be more capable of handling such situations.

We in no way condone driving under the influence. Our Florida DUI attorneys see far too many cases where harm is done to our clients, and to others. It is important that you not drive under the influence. However, should the situation arise, it is FAR better to be someone that normally is a defensive driver. And, if there is a need for a lawyer due to being confronted by an officer, we hope that you will contact our offices for a consultation. It's important that you find a qualified attorney wherever you are in the state. And the law firm of Parks & Braxton is ready to take on your case wherever you are in the Sunshine State.

Being a defensive driver protects you, your passengers and others on the road. Nothing is more protective than simply being in control of yourself while driving. This means that you should never drive under the influence to begin with.
