Points & Driver's License Suspensions

In Florida, when a driver has accumulated 12 or more points on their record within one year, their driver's license can be suspended by the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles.

  • 12 points accumulated within 12 months will result in a 30-day suspension.
  • 18 points accumulated within 18 months will result in a 3-month suspension.
  • 24 points accumulated within 36 months will result in a one-year suspension.

What are my options?

Whether you received one too many speeding tickets or multiple tickets for one incident, it is not difficult to accumulate too many points within a short timeframe. For some, a suspended license would have a devastating impact on their careers, especially when they drive a commercial vehicle for a living, or drive frequently for their job.

The good news is that you CAN fight your traffic ticket, but this needs to be addressed quickly. With the help of our firm, you may be able to protect your driving record from accumulating excessive points. Whether you were charged with a noncriminal traffic violation or a criminal traffic violation such as DUI or driving on a suspended license, we urge you to contact our office to arrange a free case evaluation.
